New Market, Oct. 23 -- Edward Walker HAMPTON, 73, died Monday afternoon at his home two miles south of here after a ten days' illness. It was the same farm home at which Mr. Hampton was born Sept. 11, 1871, the son of William S. and Eliza Jane RUFFNER Hampton.

He was married Dec. 28, 1898, to Mary KESSLER at Ladoga. He was a member of the Christian church here and of the I.O.O.F. lodge.

Survivors include Mrs. Hampton; two daughters, Mrs. Fred HIPES and Mrs. Evan BANNON, both of Crawfordsville; five sons, Claude, of Frankfort, Raymond, Waynetown, Manford, Akron, O., Bert, Whitesville, and Herschel, at home; and six grandchildren. Two other children died in infancy.

Funeral service will be at two o’clock Thursday afternoon at the New Market Christian church, with burial at the Crawfordsville Masonic Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church for an hour before the service.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock, Thursday afternoon, in the Christian church at New Market for Edward W. Hampton, who died at his home two miles south of New Market Monday afternoon. The services were in charge of the Rev. John R. Servies, of Crawfordsville. Burial was made at the Masonic Cemetery in Crawfordsville. A quartet composed of Mrs. Wilda Bonwell, Mrs. Joyce Eskew, Albert Armantrout, and Buford Friend sang “In the Garden,” “God Will Take Care of You,” and “Abide With Me.” Mrs. Carl Wray was the pianist. Flowers were carried by Hazle Hampton, Grace Hampton, Ruth Hampton, Janey Bannon, Anna Hampton, Clela Bannon, Evelyn Bannon, Mary Burgess, Bessie Armstrong, Merl Sayler, Maude Ronk, Nellie Jones, Mayme Martin, Francis Friend, Hilda Friend, Martha Friend, Elsie Hutton and Daisy Hutton. The pall bearers were Lawrence Armstrong, Edwin Armstrong, Wayne Vancleave, Willie Burgess, Charlie Martin and Herman Sayler.
